Do you wish to spend some time at a magnificent Californian beach? California’s Ventura is the ideal destination! We’re going to list 16 of Ventura’s top beaches in this article.
Excellent beaches are available for visitors in Ventura County, one of California’s most well-known spots for surfing and taking in the sun by the water. The coastline of Ventura County is home to several beautiful beaches. Every ocean activity is catered to on these beaches, including sunbathing, surfing, and taking advantage of the warm weather. Additionally, these beaches are simple to reach from the Pacific Coast Highway, providing a wide range of choices within a 30-minute drive of Ventura.
San Buenaventura State Beach
About two miles of shoreline make up San Buenaventura State Beach, which is located on Ventura’s outskirts. The popularity of this beach is due to a number of factors, including its proximity to the town and the presence of beach amenities like volleyball nets, picnic areas, and year-round lifeguard coverage.
The Ventura Pier is at the north end of the beach, spanning 1,600 feet into the ocean. A walk along its length offers a breathtaking view of the nearby Channel Islands, making it a great pier for fishermen.
The Omer Rains Coastal Bike Trail runs right by the front of the pier, offering a pedestrian route in either direction. The bike path travels south along the San Buenaventura State Beach’s remaining dunes and coastal terrain. Parking lots and a sizable grassy picnic area are also accessible from this direction.
Oxnard Beach Park
Less than 10 miles south of Ventura, on the coast of Oxnard, is a sizable outdoor area called Oxnard Beach Park. There is a lot of parking available in this spacious, lovely area. An entire park’s worth of picnic areas and playgrounds are dotted along a horseshoe-shaped trail lined with palm trees.
In Oxnard Beach Park, a trail leads to the dunes that stand between the grassy area and the beach. Children love to explore these dunes, and athletes love to run up and down the sand for a tough workout.
Due to the size of the beach at Oxnard Beach Park, it is simple to find a private area to spread out a towel. Beachgoers are greeted by a stunning view of the Channel Islands across the water. Along with many other beach activities, kite flying, fishing, and body surfing are popular activities along this stretch of sand.
Rincon Point
About 14 miles north of the Ventura Pier is the renowned Central California surfing spot Rincon Point. Surfers wearing wetsuits travel from all over the world to ride the right-hand break coming off the east side of the point. This guaranteed good surf and paradisial conditions earn the beach its nickname, the Queen of the Coast.
After leaving the 101 at Bates Roads, Rincon Point has two parking lots available. Those looking to catch some waves, or capture some surfing photographs, should head left to the Rincon Point State Beach parking lot. Here, a short trail leads to the east side of Rincon Point, where a thin coastline frames some of the best surfing in California.
The opposite parking lot is for Rincon Beach County Park, which extends along the north side of The beach at Rincon Point and is much wider and more accommodating for activities other than surfing. The parking lot and the sand are connected by a substantial, graded concrete ramp. If visitors head far enough north on this beach, they reach Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve.
Emma Wood State Beach
A linear state park called Emma Wood is located north of Ventura, close to Highway 101. A large portion of the public beach is an RV park next to the road. Reservations can only be made by self-contained campers, so people looking to set up a tent should look elsewhere.
RVs, trailers, and camper vans are frequently seen at the campground. The only amenities available are no water, restrooms, or electric hookups, and due to the limited turnaround space, an RV can only be as long as 40 feet. The sites are separated from the ocean by a rock wall where surfers frequently take advantage of the break.
In close proximity to the Ventura River’s mouth, a day-use area is located at Emma Wood State Beach’s southern end. Picnic areas and access to the beach are available, and a significant portion of the shoreline is made up of big, smooth rocks. This southern end of the beach is also home to a group campground and the beginning of the Emma Wood River Trail.
Harbor Cove Beach
Harbor Cove Beach is at the end of the peninsula protruding into Ventura Harbor. Harbor Cove is one of the safest places to swim because the rock jetties that guard the harbor also guard the beach. These safe swimming and paddling conditions lend to the beach’s other nickname: Mother’s Beach.
Visitors reach Harbor Cove Beach by driving to the end of Spinnaker Drive, past Ventura Harbor Village. There is usually plenty of free parking. There are also volleyball nets, restrooms, showers, and lifeguards on duty from May through September at the beach.
Farther south on the peninsula, across from Harbor Village, Surfer’s Knoll Beach is also a popular ocean playground. This slender coastline is a favorite beachcombing location and attracts surfers thanks to a reliable break. Swimming is not advised at Surfer’s Knoll due to the potential danger of riptides.
Mondos Beach
On the northern coast of Ventura County, Mondos is a small beach located between Faria Beach Park and Solimar Beach. A tiny cove nestled in between housing rows. Stand-up paddleboarding and beginning surfing are popular water sports there.
At Mondos Beach, there is only the ocean; there are no facilities like water or restrooms. The Pacific Coast Highway has free parking on both sides close to Mondos Beach. Particularly on the weekends, crowds frequently take advantage of this free and convenient access to the ocean.
Point Mugu Beach
Between the Naval property and Point Mugu Rock is Point Mugu Beach. The rock arch at Mugu Rock is very popular and frequently photographed at this Ventura County beach, which also has beautiful views. However, it’s also a potentially hazardous location where strong tides have been known to sweep people to their deaths!
Thornhill Broome Beach
On the ocean side of the Pacific Coast Highway, in front of a large campground, this beach is roughly halfway between Sycamore Cove Beach and Mugu Beach. You can set up camp right by the water here, but you will also be very close to the road.
Because of the rock stack that was erected to stop the beach’s total erosion, this location isn’t the most picturesque. It’s a good starting point, though, for exploring the hiking trails of La Jolla Canyon on the opposite side of the road and camping in a unique location.
County Line Beach
County Line Beach, a section of Leo Carrillo State Park, is located just inside Ventura County’s boundaries. The park’s primary area is actually located in Los Angeles County, west of Malibu, so if you pass through this region, you can continue traveling by the oceanside toward LA.
County Line Beach has a reputation for being a great place for fishing, surfing, and scuba diving, but it has few amenities and is not appealing for a simple day in the sun.
Marina Park Beach
At the end of Pierpont Boulevard is a 15-acre waterfront park called Marina Park. It is without a doubt one of the top beaches on the California coast and is surrounded by palm trees. Pets are welcome, and families with young children will enjoy them.
A playground and volleyball nets can be found at Marina Park Beach. Along with the dock, there is a marina for sailing. Swimming, kayaking, sailing, and even fishing are activities you can enjoy at Marina Park.
Hobson Beach Park
If you’re looking for a popular spot in Ventura, check out Hobson Beach. This expansive beach offers breathtaking views of the Channel Islands and is located near the southern boundary of the private gated Seacliff Beach Colony.
Hobson Beach Park is a favorite among surfers because of its excellent surf, and during the summer they frequently arrive early and occupy the best spots. In addition, you can tent and RV camp here.
Seaside Wilderness Park
Seaside Wilderness Park is next to Park at Emma Wood State Beach. You can park at Surfers Point, a nearby beach park, and ride your bike to this coastal location along the Omer Rains Trail.
Visits to Seaside Park are fun for people who like to hike, watch birds, surf, or sunbathe. Along with nature trails, it has a stunning coastline. It’s simple to lose a whole day here!
Silver Strand Beach
One of the best state beaches in California, Silver Strand Beach is a favorite among both tourists and locals. Fishing, water sports, and scenic views are just a few of the many options available.
The waves at Silver Strand Beach are perfect for experienced surfers, and the calm bay waters are ideal for swimming and sailing. Wandering the sand and looking for cockles, moon snails, and sand dollar shells is another unusual activity.
Mandalay Beach
Due to its proximity to Oxnard Beach, Mandalay Beach is a fantastic addition to your itinerary for Ventura, California. This stunning stretch of shore is close to a protected area with sand dunes and wetlands that is home to a variety of wildlife.
At Mandalay Beach, take pleasure in strolling, surfing, and sunbathing. Additionally, the views of Channel Islands National Park from behind the water are unmatched.
Hollywood Beach
The southernmost point of the peninsula between the sea and Channel Islands Harbor is where you’ll find Hollywood Beach. Hollywood Beach used to be home to many famous people with waterfront properties. However, local families now make up the majority of its population, and beachgoers are tourists.
Hollywood Beach is a popular destination for beachgoers who want to swim, play beach volleyball, or stroll with their pets in the morning or evening. Despite being a popular destination, you never feel crowded because of the mile-long stretch of empty sand.
Solimar Beach
Solimar Beach is a fantastic hidden treasure in Ventura. The neighborhood of Solimar Beach is home to this expansive, picturesque coastline. It’s a neighborhood location that provides peace and quiet but has no amenities.
You can find a rocky shore if you go during high tide. While the low tide is a great time to unwind and stroll along the shore, Solimar Beach is also a great place to do both. In addition, it’s a fantastic place to go wildlife viewing and surfing.
